本文状態: Phase 2 frozen target v1.0.1。working sentence ID AGATH.§11.S06。
初期試訳
OPEN: 「ただ愛に渇く者となれ。そうすればすぐに、生命の泉が……あなたを満たすであろう。」後半 9–13 の項構造を未確定のまま保持する。
Recall / lexical observations
ծարաւի(CALFAԾարաւի, ւոյ, աւեաց) = thirsty, dry; figuratively “thirsting/panting for, ardent, eager”。լեր=լինիմaffirmative imperative 2SG。「~であれ/~となれ」。աղբիւր կենդանութեան= 「生命の泉」。CALFAԱղբիւրに exact exampleԿենդանի է, եւ աղբիւր կենդանութեան。երաշտութիւն= dryness, aridity。CALFA にԵթէ ոք պասքեալ իցէ … քանզի զերաշտութիւն լուծանէというպասքեալとの近接例。պասքիմ, եցայ= be very thirsty; pant/eagerly long for。յագեցուցանեմ, ուցի= satisfy, satiate, sate。通常は満たされる人・魂・腹・感情などを ACC に取る。- Bible concordance でも
յագեցուցանել զդոսա հացիւ,զանձինս … յագեցուսցես,յագեցուցանէ զանձն,յագեցուցանէ զորովայն等、patient ACC + content/instrument の構造が確認できる。
Morphological correction: ''
Active Review
REVIEW.001 — ծարաւի՛ լեր սիրոյն
ծարաւի + copular imperative լեր の predicate-adjective construction を第一候補とする。4 սիրոյն が ծարաւի の complement GEN/DAT「愛を渇望する」として説明できるかを KB/lexical comparanda で確定する。
REVIEW.002 — 9–13 argument structure surface:
աղբիւր կենդանութեան զերաշտութիւն ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն յագեցուսցէ զքեզ
には二つの z-marked accusative (9, 13) が見える。単純な two-direct-object analysis は採らない。
Relevant KB:
Working hypotheses:
- A: 13
զքեզ= ordinary patient/direct object; 9–11 = qualitative/content/respect ACC phrase (“渇ききった者の渇きの乾きという点で”)。 - B: 9
զերաշտութիւն= direct object; 13զքեզ= resumptive/appositional person reference after 10–11。 - C: true double accusative under causative semantics。
- D: rhetorical/zeugmatic coordination of two ACC objects without overt coordinator。
A is currently structurally strongest because յագեցուցանեմ independently and repeatedly selects the satiated person/entity as ACC, while true double-ACC is not licensed merely by causative morphology. Not yet adjudicated.

Precision checkpoint 1 — front exhortation
ծարաւի՛ լեր սիրոյն は predicate adjective + copular imperative として確定度が高い。
- CALFA
Ծարաւիは literal “thirsty” に加えて figurative “thirsting/panting for, ardent, eager”。 - 同 entry に

└─ սիրոյն
「ただ愛に渇く者となれ/ただ愛を渇望せよ」
REVIEW.001: RESOLVED.
Precision checkpoint 2a — ''յագեցուսցէ'' morphology
CALFA lemma: Յագեցուցանեմ, ուցի “satisfy, satiate, sate”。
HMB2018 §§139–143:
- causatives use -ոյց / unstressed -ուց;
- causatives derived from neutral verbs acquire active/transitive semantics;
- perfect-stem forms use the causative perfect stem;
- before future/subjunctive
ց, stem-finalցhas the regularսalternation already documented in the verbal system.
Thus յագեցուսցէ = FUT2.SBJV.ACT.3SG is the working/adopted morphology.
Subject: NOM.SG աղբիւր կենդանութեան「生命の泉」。
Precision checkpoint 2b — double-ACC evidence
KB SYN.05 explicitly warns against treating every ACC+ACC surface sequence as homogeneous double direct objects.
Relevant:
- BAG1852.SYN05.C001: some verbs take two accusatives, but their roles are heterogeneous.
- ABE1936.SYN05.C001–C002: predicative second ACC and person+theme double ACC are construction-specific.
- JEN1959.SYN05.C001: even with
ուսուցանել, Jensen rejects a true homogeneous double-ACC analysis. - KOS1980.SYN05.C001: causatives normally distinguish direct object and mediator; surface case patterns vary and can collapse roles.
- ABE1936.SYN06.C002: ACC also has adverbial / qualitative / cognate uses beyond direct object.
KOS1980 p.107 supplies especially relevant thirst-causative comparanda:
Արբուցանէ զոգւով ծարաւիս 「霊に渇く者たちに飲ませる」 Թէ պասքելոյս արբուցանիցես, աղբիւր ես 「もし渇いている私に飲ませるなら、あなたは泉である」
The latter independently confirms nominalized past participle պասքելոյս in an oblique person role.
For S006, ordinary lexical valency of յագեցուցանեմ strongly favors 13 զքեզ as the satiated patient:
յագեցուցանել զդոսա հացիւզանձինս կարօտեալս յագեցուսցեսյագեցուցանէ զանձն իւրյագեցուցանէ զորովայն իւր
Therefore 9 զերաշտութիւն should not be promoted to a second homogeneous direct object without further evidence.
Current ranking:
- A (preferred):
զքեզ= patient DO;զերաշտութիւն …= noncanonical qualitative/content/respect ACC phrase specifying the thirst/dryness in which satiation operates. - B:
զերաշտութիւն …= DO andզքեզ= resumptive/appositional person reference. - C: true causative double ACC.
- D: zeugmatic two-object sequence.
A has the best independent valency support, but the exact internal relation of 9–11 remains OPEN.
Precision checkpoint 2c — ''պասքելոյն'' category
ABE1936 §98 directly shows past participle declension:
առաքեալ → առաքելոյ → առաքելով
Therefore պասքեալ → պասքելոյն is a regular past participle GEN/DAT.SG.DEF.
This is strengthened by KOS1980's exact պասքելոյս comparator above.
Thus:
- PTCP oblique = first analysis.
- inflected infinitive GEN/DAT = formal homograph, retained as alternative but currently disfavored.
The remaining question is whether 10–11 form:
ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն= an agreeing GEN phrase (“of the parched/thirsting one”), or- a tighter rhetorical nominal phrase (“of parching thirst”).
This is now the principal unresolved subissue inside REVIEW.002.
STATUS: OPEN / REVIEW.001 RESOLVED; REVIEW.002 NARROWED TO 9–11 INTERNAL SYNTAX.
Precision checkpoint 3 — 9–13 focused adjudication
3.1 Direct comparator changes the weighting
KOS1980 (chunk 000111) contains:
... կամեցայք ի սահանական ջրոց զփափագ ծարաւոյն յագեցուցանել
Here զփափագ ծարաւոյն “the longing/desire of thirst” is directly governed by յագեցուցանել. Therefore յագեցուցանել can take an abstract thirst/desire noun as its direct object. Earlier working inference that only a person/entity could be the direct object is RETRACTED.
CALFA likewise has յագեցուցանէ զցասումն “satisfy/vent wrath”, independently showing an abstract state/emotion as object.
3.2 Internal structure of 10–11
BAG1852.NFIN07.C001 (§§1251,1254) explicitly states that oblique past-participle forms may function adjectivally.
Thus:
ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն GEN.SG.DEF GEN.SG.DEF NOUN PTCP used adjectivally
can be parsed as noun + postposed agreeing adjectival past participle: “of the parched / burning thirst”.
This is preferable to forcing 11 to be a substantival “of the parched person”. The latter remains morphologically possible, but would create an additional unexpressed/coreferential person relation with final զքեզ without independent syntactic motivation.
Working NP:
զերաշտութիւն └─ ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն 「渇ききった渇きの乾き/焼けつく渇きの乾き」
The semantic redundancy is treated as rhetorical intensification, not as evidence against the syntax.
3.3 Why 9 and 13 are not a normal causative double object
CALFA identifies յագեցուցանեմ as “to cause to be sated / տալ յագենալ”; its base յագենամ is neutral/intransitive “be satiated”.
This matters because:
- KOS1980's mediator DAT (sometimes ACC) rule applies specifically to causatives derived from transitive bases (
արբուցանել, զգեցուցանել, ուսուցանելetc.). - HAY2005 pp.52–53 explicitly distinguishes neutral-base causatives: they normally have no separately expressed mediator; the direct object itself bears the added affected/caused-participant role.
- Therefore importing the
theme ACC + person mediator ACCanalysis fromուսուցանել/արբուցանելintoյագեցուցանելis not justified.
Accordingly, 13 զքեզ has the strongest claim to be the ordinary caused-patient/direct object:
“cause you to be sated / satisfy you”.
3.4 Status of 9 ''զերաշտութիւն ...''
With 13 as patient DO, 9 cannot simultaneously be treated as a second homogeneous DO merely because it is accusative.
ABE1936 §173 provides the closest grammatical category: an additional qualitative/cognate accusative may be formed from a noun semantically close to the governing verb and corresponds in translation to an instrumental / manner-content expression.
երաշտութիւն / ծարաւ and յագեցուցանել are not cognate, but belong to the same tightly opposed lexical event-frame “thirst/dryness ↔ satiation/slaking”. Moreover KOS1980 proves that a thirst-abstract can independently be the object of յագեցուցանել. This makes a content/respect ACC analysis plausible in the overloaded S006 construction:
աղբիւր կենդանութեան SUBJECT ├─ զերաշտութիւն ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն CONTENT / RESPECT ACC │ 「焼けつく渇きの乾きについて/その乾きを」 └─ յագեցուսցէ զքեզ PREDICATE + PATIENT DO 「あなたを満たすであろう」
Semantic unpacking: “the fountain of life will satisfy you in respect of / as to the dryness of your parching thirst.”
This preserves both independently attested valencies:
յագեցուցանել + person ACC= satiate a person;յագեցուցանել + thirst/abstract ACC= satisfy/slake an abstract thirst;
while avoiding an unsupported homogeneous double-object rule.
3.5 Residual alternatives
- ALT-B: zeugmatic double patient — one verb simultaneously governs “slake the dryness/thirst” and “satiate you”. Semantically very natural, but no dedicated KB construction rule has yet been found. Retain as rhetorical-syntax alternative.
- ALT-C: 9 = sole DO; 13 = mediator/beneficiary ACC — weakened substantially because the KOS mediator rule is for transitive-base causatives, whereas
յագեցուցանելderives from neutralյագենալ. - ALT-D: 11 substantival PTCP “of the parched one” — morphologically possible, but creates redundant person reference alongside
զքեզ; adjectival agreement withծարաւոյնis structurally simpler.
REVIEW.002: provisionally RESOLVED in favor of patient DO զքեզ + content/respect ACC զերաշտութիւն ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն.
Before sentence close, de-anchored Recall must specifically attempt to overturn this noncanonical ACC analysis.
De-anchored Recall — focused falsification of REVIEW.002
Precision checkpoint 3 の採用案を外し、9–13 を再評価した。
Test 1: Can HMB §180 directly license 9 as a qualitative/cognate ACC?
No, not strongly enough.
HMB2018 §180 states that ACC may additionally mark complements “formed from the same root as the verb or semantically close to it”, illustrated by:
Կոծեսցին ... կոծ աշխարեսցեն աշխար
This securely licenses cognate / near-synonymous accusatives. But երաշտութիւն “dryness” and յագեցուցանել “satiate/slake” are not cognate or synonymous; they belong to an opposed event-frame.
Therefore the previous label CONTENT / RESPECT ACC is too strong if presented as a directly KB-licensed category. It is downgraded from adopted syntactic category to an interpretive paraphrase only.
Test 2: Are both ACC expressions independently licensed as objects of ''յագեցուցանել''?
Yes.
Abstract-object comparator:
զփափագ ծարաւոյն յագեցուցանել “to satisfy the longing of thirst”
(KOS1980)
CALFA additionally:
յագեցուցանէ զցասումն “satisfy / vent the wrath”
Person/entity-object comparators:
յագեցուցանել զդոսա հացիւ յագեցոյց զանձինս քաղցեալս յագեցուցանէ զանձն իւր յագեցուցանէ զորովայն իւր
Thus both:
յագեցուսցէ զերաշտութիւն …= “slake/satisfy the dryness/thirst …”յագեցուսցէ զքեզ= “satisfy/satiate you”
are independently normal semantic frames.
Test 3: Does causative syntax require 9+13 as theme+mediator double ACC?
No.
յագեցուցանեմ is causative to neutral/intransitive յագենամ / յագիմ “be satiated”. KOS/HAY rules for an added mediator argument are principally relevant to causatives of transitive bases. No evidence requires treating either 9 or 13 as a causative mediator here.
Test 4: Does 10–11 require a hidden person?
No.
ABE1936 §98 proves PTCP oblique morphology; BAG1852.NFIN07.C001 proves oblique past participles can function adjectivally. Hence:
ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն N.GEN.SG.DEF + PTCP.GEN.SG.DEF
is minimally parsed as an agreeing NP, “of the parched/burning thirst”. A substantival PTCP “of the thirsty one” remains formally possible but introduces an unnecessary person referent beside overt զքեզ.
Revised adjudication
The strongest evidence-based description is shared-predicate zeugma / rhetorical double government, not a special content/respect accusative:
աղբիւր կենդանութեան SUBJECT
│
├── զերաշտութիւն ծարաւոյն պասքելոյն
│ ↘
│ յագեցուսցէ
│ ↗
└── զքեզ
The same finite verb is semantically instantiated in two compatible frames:
1. **''յագեցուսցէ զերաշտութիւն ...''** — “will slake/satisfy the dryness of the burning thirst” 2. **''յագեցուսցէ զքեզ''** — “will satisfy/satiate you”
The two frames converge referentially: slaking the addressee's thirst is satiating the addressee. This explains why both ACC phrases are retained without inventing a homogeneous two-object valency or extending the cognate-ACC rule beyond its evidence.
REVIEW.002: REVISED and RESOLVED.
- RETRACT as primary label: content/respect ACC.
- ADOPT: rhetorical shared-predicate / zeugmatic double government.
- Retain: 9–11 as an ordinary object frame of
յագեցուցանելand 13 as a second ordinary object frame sharing the same overt verb. - Residual: whether a historical grammar would assign a more specific traditional label to this exact rhetorical configuration is NON-BLOCKING / KB-NOT-DIRECTLY-ATTESTED.
De-anchored Recall result
All major alternatives were re-opened:
- 11 inflected infinitive vs adjectival PTCP → PTCP favored by agreement and comparator.
- 11 substantival “thirsty one” → possible but structurally costlier.
- 9 special qualitative/cognate ACC → insufficiently directly licensed; withdrawn.
- 9+13 causative theme+mediator double ACC → unsupported for neutral-base causative.
- 9 sole DO + 13 resumptive/appositional → lacks independent evidence.
- shared-predicate zeugma → directly preserves both independently attested valency frames and rhetorical semantics.
DE-ANCHORED RECALL: PASS, WITH REVISION OF REVIEW.002.
