Recall phase

overt finite inventory

  • հրամայեաց — overt finite AOR.3SG of հրամայեմ, “ordered / commanded / authorized”.
  • No other overt finite form is apparent in the sentence.

This is immediately important: the long այլ … half must not be supplied with a second finite predicate merely because Japanese translation requires one.

nonfinite / predicate inventory

  • վիպասանել — infinitive, governed as the content of հրամայեաց; CALFA cites this exact Agathangelos locus under Վիպասանեմ (“to relate, narrate; write romance”).
  • ընթանալ — infinitive in the second negative member; exact construction with առասպելս … ընթանալ requires review.
  • եղեալք — participial/copular form modifying or predicating over իրք; central to the այլ-clause architecture.
  • շփոթելոց — nonfinite/participial-looking genitive plural; local attachment must be tested.
  • քանդելոյ, մատնելոյ, հարկանելոյ — genitive singular infinitives; these are especially high-risk because their subjects/objects and their relation to the preceding nominal series are not yet fixed.

macro-syntax: first-pass observation

The sentence has a conspicuous contrast frame:

Ոչ ... հրամայեաց մեզ վիպասանել,
եւ ոչ ... ընթանալ.
այլ ...

The first two negative members reject two modes of narration; այլ introduces what is to be narrated instead. Do not yet assume that the այլ member has an overt finite predicate of its own.

lexical anchors retrieved

  • CALFA վիպասանեմ: “relate, narrate; write romance”, citing this exact sentence.
  • CALFA քմազարդ: “pleasing / agreeable”, NBHL: “adorned to the taste, agreeable; fitted to the taste of speaker or hearer”; exact S003 Ո՛չ զքմազարդ բանից ինչ առասպելս is cited.
  • CALFA առասպել: fable, fiction, tale, romance; NBHL emphasizes fabricated / fictive narrative.
  • CALFA յեղափոխ: variable, mutable, subject to change; its examples include Agathangelos material on changing/war-tossed times.
  • CALFA մարտամբոխ: tumultuous, troubled, agitated by war; exact Agathangelos context is cited.
  • CALFA քաջութիւն: valour/courage and also exploit/heroic act.
  • CALFA քինախնդիր: revengeful/vindictive; NBHL explicitly relates it to seeking vengeance.
  • CALFA վրէժ, վրիժուց: revenge/vengeance; վրիժուց participates in established revenge expressions.

HMB direct phrase searches for the S003 strings returned no hits; therefore HMB has not yet supplied a same-locus adjudication.

candidate-space adequacy

Not adequate for closure. Two Priority Reviews are opened.

  1. REVIEW.001 — ոչ … եւ ոչ … այլ … predicate architecture: determine whether հրամայեաց scopes over both negative infinitival complements, how ընթանալ functions, and how the nonfinite իրք որ եղեալք after այլ supplies the positive counterpart without inventing a finite verb.
  2. REVIEW.002 — genitive catastrophe-series: parse վասն յեղանակաց … through հարկանելոյ բազմութեան մարդկան վասն քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց. Determine which forms are coordinate event-nominals, which are genitive infinitives/participles, their controllers/objects, and the attachment of the final vengeance phrase.

STATUS: OPEN / RECALL COMPLETE — REVIEW.001–002 NEXT.

Priority REVIEW.001 — ''ոչ ... եւ ոչ ... այլ ...'' predicate architecture

1. Coordination frame

HMB §182 independently classifies այլ among adversative coordinators and describes the coordinated members as syntactically coordinate/equivalent while semantically opposed. This supports treating S003's macro-frame as a contrastive coordination rather than forcing այլ into a subordinate relation.

[NEGATIVE A] Ոչ ... հրամայեաց մեզ վիպասանել,
[NEGATIVE B] եւ ոչ ... ընթանալ;
[POSITIVE C] այլ իրք որ եղեալք ...

The surface is nevertheless asymmetric: A contains the only overt finite verb; B contains an infinitive; C begins with the nominal-relative complex իրք որ եղեալք. Coordination therefore operates at the discourse/content level and does not license invention of parallel finite verbs.

2. First negative member

Ոչ զիւր ինչ քաջութիւն՝ սուտ հրամայեաց մեզ վիպասանել

Adopt:

[implicit 3SG = Tiridates]
└─ հրամայեաց [FINITE AOR.3SG]
├─ մեզ [DAT: commanded addressee / infinitival actor]
   └─ վիպասանել [INF]
└─ զիւր ինչ քաջութիւն [ACC content/object]
         └─ սուտ [adverbial/predicative qualification: falsely]

CALFA հրամայեմ explicitly includes “command/order/enjoin” and supplies comparable finite + infinitive examples (e.g. հրամայեա՛ … ասել, հրամայիմք աղօթել). CALFA վիպասանեմ cites S003 itself and glosses “relate, narrate; write romance.” The finite subject is not overt in S003, but discourse continuity from S002 makes Tiridates the high-confidence controller; this is discourse resolution, not morphological expression.

Working sense: “He did not command us falsely to narrate some valour of his own.” The placement and exact syntactic label of սուտ may be described adverbially without making it an additional predicate.

3. Second negative member: ellipsis vs independent infinitive

եւ ոչ զքմազարդ բանից ինչ առասպելս աւելի քան զարժանն ընթանալ

The strongest analysis is shared matrix scope / ellipsis:

եւ ոչ [Ø հրամայեաց մեզ]
       └─ ընթանալ [INF]
          ├─ զքմազարդ բանից ինչ առասպելս
          └─ աւելի քան զարժանն

Reasons:

  • եւ ոչ presents B as a second rejected counterpart to A.
  • No second overt finite exists.
  • The same discourse actor մեզ is naturally recoverable for the infinitive.
  • Supplying the already expressed matrix predicate as ellipsis is less costly than promoting ընթանալ or positing a new zero finite predicate.

CALFA ընթանամ has extended discourse uses beyond literal motion: “ընթանալով ասել = say in few words / touch lightly,” յաղագս որոց բանս ընթանայր (“concerning which the discourse was proceeding”), and Gospel writers “ընթանալով ասեն զբանն”. Thus in S003 ընթանալ can plausibly mean to proceed/run in discourse, i.e. carry the narration, rather than physical motion.

CALFA քմազարդ cites the exact phrase and explains it as pleasing / fitted to the taste of speaker or hearer. առասպել = fable, fiction, fabricated tale. CALFA արժան gives “worthy/proper/fitting” and examples of քան զարժանն meaning beyond what is fitting; աւելի independently gives “more/beyond/excessive” and the construction աւելի քան.

Therefore B is provisionally:

“nor [did he command us] to carry pleasingly adorned tales beyond what is fitting.”

Japanese literary rendering may use “聞き手好みに飾った作り話を、相応の限度を越えて語り進める”, but “聞き手” is explanatory unpacking of the dictionary definition of քմազարդ, not an overt argument in the sentence.

4. Positive ''այլ'' member

այլ իրք որ եղեալք վասն ...

Crucial adjudication: do not posit an overt or finite counterpart to հրամայեաց here. The positive member begins with իրք (“things / matters / events”) plus որ եղեալք, a nonfinite relative/copular characterization: approximately “but the things/events which had occurred / come about …”.

At the macro-discourse level C supplies the positive content contrasted with the two rejected kinds of narration. It can therefore be represented conservatively as:

հրամայեաց մեզ ... [overt matrix in A]
├─ ոչ A: falsely narrate his own valour
├─ եւ ոչ B: [under shared matrix scope] carry embellished fictions beyond due measure
└─ այլ C: the actual events/things that occurred ...
[positive content/topic; no new finite verb asserted]

This does not yet decide whether C is syntactically an ellipted object/complement under հրամայեաց, a discourse-level corrective nominal constituent, or whether the following genitive catastrophe-series supplies a more specific construction. That belongs to REVIEW.002. What is closed here is the predicate inventory: C contains no independently recoverable overt finite predicate.

5. Alternative analyses tested

  • B as an independent finite clause: REJECT. No finite morphology supports it.
  • ընթանալ as finite-equivalent predicate: REJECT. Nothing in the retrieved evidence requires promotion from infinitive; shared matrix scope accounts for it economically.
  • C with an inserted “we shall narrate / he commanded us to narrate”: REJECT as grammatical projection. Such wording may be necessary in Japanese translation, but it is not present as an Armenian finite predicate.
  • եղեալք as the finite predicate of C: REJECT. Retain its nonfinite morphology. Its exact local syntax with իրք որ remains for REVIEW.002.
  • A/B/C as morphosyntactically identical parallel clauses: REJECT. HMB supports adversative coordination, but the actual surface members are structurally asymmetric.

REVIEW.001 adjudication

ADOPT: one overt finite matrix predicate, հրամայեաց, with A explicit; B under coordinated shared matrix scope/ellipsis; C introduced by այլ as the corrective positive content, without manufacturing a second finite predicate. ընթանալ remains infinitival and is read in its attested extended discourse sense “proceed/carry [a narrative]”.

Confidence: HIGH for the one-finite inventory and A/B shared-scope analysis; MEDIUM–HIGH for the discourse sense of ընթանալ; MEDIUM for the exact syntactic integration of C pending REVIEW.002.

REVIEW.001: RESOLVED. NEXT: REVIEW.002 — internal syntax of այլ իրք որ եղեալք … and the genitive catastrophe-series.

Priority REVIEW.002 — ''այլ իրք որ եղեալք ...'' and the genitive catastrophe-series

1. Governing preposition and outer frame

HMB §161 explicitly lists վասն among prepositions governing the genitive, with the semantic range “for / about / concerning / because of”. This is decisive for the surface architecture after եղեալք: the long sequence is not an accidental pile of genitives but is licensed, at its outermost level, by վասն.

այլ իրք որ եղեալք
    └─ վասն [GEN-domain ...]

իրք is morphologically NOM.PL (lemma իր). եղեալք agrees in plural and supplies the nonfinite copular/eventive characterization: “the things/events which had occurred / come about concerning/because of …”. This supports the conservative C-analysis from REVIEW.001: այլ իրք որ եղեալք … is a nominal-relative positive content constituent, not a new finite clause.

2. First layer under ''վասն'': historical circumstances

The opening sequence is best segmented into genitival event/circumstance groups rather than a single flat noun chain:

The grouping is not equally secure in every item, but the repeated genitive morphology and semantic parallelism strongly favor a catalogue under one վասն.

  • յեղանակաց … ժամանակաց: յեղանակ can denote mode/condition, season/time, or a changed state of affairs; յեղափոխ = mutable/changing. Working reading: the vicissitudes/turnings of changing times. Exact internal relation of the two genitive plurals remains MEDIUM.
  • մարտամբոխ պատերազմաց: wars tumultuous/agitated by battle.
  • սուրակոխ բազմահեղ արեանց կոտորածոյ: կոտորածոյ is GEN.SG event noun “slaughter”; արեանց is GEN.PL “of blood(s)”; CALFA cites the same Agathangelos phrase under սուրակոխ. Working constituent: slaughter amid sword-struck, abundantly shed blood. Exact modifier distribution of սուրակոխ / բազմահեղ remains stylistically delicate.
  • գերութեան աշխարհաց: nominal event “captivity/subjugation of lands”.
  • աւերածոյ գաւառաց: nominal event “devastation/desolation of provinces”.

3. ''զաւրաց շփոթելոց'': not another finite event

The dictionary analyzer identifies շփոթելոց as an oblique plural infinitival/nonfinite form of Շփոթեմ (GEN/DAT/ABL.PL formally available), “confound, throw into disorder, embroil”. In the present genitive catalogue, GEN.PL is the economical choice.

Thus անհուն զաւրաց շփոթելոց is best kept nonfinite and nominalized: approximately “of innumerable forces/armies being thrown into confusion / of the confounding of innumerable armies.”

There is no basis for promoting շփոթելոց to a finite predicate. Whether its voice is best rendered actively or passively/resultatively is not morphologically forced; semantic context favors the latter in Japanese, but this remains a translation-level choice.

4. The three genitive infinitives: ''քանդելոյ / մատնելոյ / հարկանելոյ''

The morphology is independently confirmed by the dictionary service:

  • քանդելոյ = infinitive, GEN.SG (also formally DAT/ABL.SG), “demolish/destroy/devastate”.
  • մատնելոյ = infinitive, GEN.SG (also formally DAT/ABL.SG), “deliver up/surrender/abandon”.
  • հարկանելոյ = infinitive, GEN.SG (also formally DAT/ABL.SG), broad հարկանեմ “strike, beat, kill, afflict…” etc.

Within a վասն + genitive catalogue and alongside գերութեան / աւերածոյ, GEN.SG is strongly preferred. They function as nominalized event expressions, not as a serial verbal chain.

Their immediately following genitives are most economically their affected participants/objects:

քանդելոյ քաղաքաց
    demolition/destruction of cities

մատնելոյ աւանաց
delivering up / surrender of towns

հարկանելոյ բազմութեան մարդկան
striking/slaughtering of a multitude of people

For հարկանելոյ, the broad lexical range requires contextual narrowing. In a catalogue already containing war, bloodshed, captivity, devastation, and city destruction, “striking/slaughtering” is preferable to unrelated senses such as “write down” or “pay tribute”. բազմութեան մարդկան is internally “a multitude of people / the human multitude”.

Important: these infinitives do not share a syntactically recoverable personal controller in the way finite verbs do. The construction foregrounds events/results, suppressing the agents. Supplying “Tiridates destroyed…” would therefore be an overreach: the catalogue describes historical calamities, not a chain of acts grammatically attributed to the king.

5. Final ''վասն քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց''

A second վասն opens a local genitive phrase. HMB §161 again licenses GEN after վասն.

հարկանելոյ բազմութեան մարդկան
└─ վասն
   └─ քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց

The nearest-attachment reading is structurally favored: the phrase gives the motive/cause associated with the striking/slaughter of the human multitude, rather than retroactively modifying every preceding catastrophe.

Lexically, քաջութիւն = courage/valour (also heroic exploit), քինախնդիր = revenge-seeking/vindictive, and վրէժ, վրիժուց = vengeance/revenge. The exact internal dependency of քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց is compressed. A safe semantic rendering is “because of valour and revenge-seeking vengeance/reprisals”, without pretending that the phrase supplies a modern transparent NP structure. Exact modifier scope remains NON-BLOCKING.

6. Consequence for the macro-syntax

REVIEW.002 clarifies why C can stand without a newly invented finite verb. It is an extensive nominalized catalogue of actual historical events:

այլ
└─ իրք որ եղեալք
   └─ վասն
      ├─ changing times / vicissitudes
      ├─ tumultuous wars
      ├─ bloody slaughter
      ├─ armies thrown into confusion
      ├─ captivity of lands
      ├─ devastation of provinces
      ├─ destruction of cities
      ├─ surrender of towns
      └─ striking/slaughter of multitudes
         └─ վասն ... vengeance ...

This is precisely opposed to the preceding սուտ … վիպասանել and քմազարդ … առասպելս: not fabricated heroic self-praise or embellished fiction, but իրք որ եղեալք — things that actually happened, enumerated as historical processes and calamities.

Alternatives tested

  • All genitives depend directly and individually on եղեալք: REJECT as too flat; վասն supplies the overt governor and several local noun/nonfinite subgroups are internally coherent.
  • քանդելոյ / մատնելոյ / հարկանելոյ as a serial converb-like chain: REJECT. Their oblique infinitival morphology and position inside the վասն-governed genitive catalogue favor nominalized events.
  • Tiridates as controller/agent of the whole catastrophe list: REJECT. No grammatical marking licenses this; the agents are backgrounded/unspecified.
  • second վասն … scopes over the entire catalogue: POSSIBLE at discourse level but dispreferred syntactically because nearest attachment to հարկանելոյ բազմութեան մարդկան is more economical. Retain broad-scope resonance only as a literary possibility, not structural projection.
  • շփոթելոց as finite or finite-equivalent: REJECT.

REVIEW.002 adjudication

ADOPT: վասն governs a large genitive catalogue under իրք որ եղեալք. The catalogue mixes lexical event nouns with oblique infinitival/nonfinite nominalizations; it is therefore structurally parallel at the level of event reference, not morphologically homogeneous. քանդելոյ / մատնելոյ / հարկանելոյ are GEN.SG infinitives functioning nominally. Agents are suppressed. The second վասն attaches locally, most probably to the final human-slaughter expression; its exact internal modifier scope is non-blocking.

Confidence: HIGH for վասն + GEN outer government and nominalized-event architecture; HIGH for the three genitive infinitives as nonfinite event expressions; MEDIUM–HIGH for local grouping; MEDIUM for the exact internal scope of սուրակոխ բազմահեղ… and final revenge phrase.

REVIEW.002: RESOLVED. Priority Reviews complete. NEXT: Precision integration → de-anchored Recall → core-domain completion.

Post-REVIEW.002 deepening audit

REVIEW.002 was reopened locally for three high-value checks: (a) apparent number mismatch in իրք որ եղեալք, (b) whether the genitive nouns after the inflected infinitives can genuinely be their objects, and © whether CALFA's “same-locus” citations can safely adjudicate the internal grouping of the catastrophe catalogue. The macro-adjudication remains intact, but two points are sharpened and one earlier evidential formulation is corrected.

A. ''իրք որ եղեալք'': singular ''որ'' with plural antecedent is licensed

At first sight իրք NOM.PL + որ (formally singular NOM) + եղեալք PL looks like a number mismatch. HMB §91 gives the regular paradigm որ : որք in NOM.SG : NOM.PL, so this had to be checked rather than silently normalized.

The Grammar KB supplies direct source-backed evidence that the apparent mismatch is grammatical:

  • ABE1936.PRO07.C001: Abeghyan states that in plural nominative/accusative relative use, singular որ/զոր may occur instead of որք/զորս.
  • JEN1959.SYN26.C002 (§550): singular որ is widely used with plural antecedents in NOM/ACC relative constructions; explicit plural որք/որս may carry emphasis.

Therefore:

իրք [որ եղեալք ...]
NOM.PL REL.NOM PTCP.PL

requires no textual repair and no agreement residual. The plural number is overtly carried by իրք and եղեալք; singular-form որ is an independently described Classical Armenian relative pattern.

Adjudication: RESOLVED / HIGH.

B. Genitive objects of the inflected infinitives are directly licensed

The previous review correctly identified քանդելոյ / մատնելոյ / հարկանելոյ as genitive singular infinitives under վասն, but the status of the following genitives required a stricter check. It would be unsafe to infer “object” merely from Japanese semantics.

The Grammar KB provides an unusually exact rule:

  • JEN1959.NFIN09.C003 (§493): in preposition + inflected-infinitive constructions, the object of the infinitive may stand in either ACC or GEN.
  • The same §493 explicitly treats preposition + infinitive syntagmata as adverbial-clause equivalents and gives վասն + genitive infinitive examples.
  • ABE1936.NFIN01.C002 (§179.2): the infinitive is declinable and occurs in cases required by its governor.

This materially strengthens the local parses:

քանդելոյ քաղաքաց
INF.GEN.SG OBJ.GEN.PL

մատնելոյ աւանաց
INF.GEN.SG OBJ.GEN.PL

հարկանելոյ բազմութեան մարդկան
INF.GEN.SG OBJ.GEN.SG + dependent GEN.PL

Thus “destruction of cities / surrender of towns / striking-slaughter of a multitude of people” is not merely a semantic nominalization imposed by translation. Classical Armenian independently licenses GEN objects with the inflected infinitive.

This also explains why comparison with examples such as HMB's վասն աղօթս առնելոյ (ACC object + GEN infinitive) does not invalidate S003: the language allows both object cases in this construction.

Adjudication: strengthened from HIGH to HIGH with direct KB support.

C. CALFA's Agathangelos citations are not text-identical to the frozen target

This is an important evidence-control correction.

The frozen Phase-2 target reads:

վասն յեղանակաց յեղափոխ ժամանակաց,
մարտամբոխ պատերազմաց,
սուրակոխ բազմահեղ արեանց կոտորածոյ

But CALFA/NBHL search material returns Agathangelos citations with different wording/order, including:

Վասն յեղանակաց յեղափոխ պատերազմաց.

and

Վասն յեղանակաց յեղափոխ պատերազմաց մարտամբոխ ժամանակաց.

and under սուրակոխ:

Սուրակոխ բազմահեղ արեանց կոտորածոց.

The last differs also in number/case form from frozen կոտորածոյ.

Therefore these CALFA examples must not be described as exact same-locus textual confirmation of the frozen surface. They remain valuable lexical/collocational evidence, but they reflect a different cited text/edition, editorial normalization, or dictionary transmission. Phase-2 v1.0.1 remains authoritative for this reading; no change to the frozen target is licensed.

This especially matters for attachment: CALFA's alternate ordering shows that dictionary citations cannot decide whether յեղափոխ modifies ժամանակաց and մարտամբոխ modifies պատերազմաց in our target. That must be decided from the frozen syntax itself.

D. First two catalogue members: balanced pairing is favored, but not by CALFA citation

For the frozen surface, the economical local parse remains:

յեղանակաց
└─ յեղափոխ ժամանակաց

մարտամբոխ պատերազմաց

or, at the semantic level:

  • “the vicissitudes/conditions of changing times”
  • “war-tumultuous wars”

The precise dependency of յեղանակաց on ժամանակաց is still compressed, so the first unit remains MEDIUM. But յեղափոխ ժամանակաց and մարտամբոխ պատերազմաց are locally well-formed preposed-adjective + genitive-noun groups. Grammar KB NOM material independently notes that preposed adjectives often remain in the uninflected/default form, so lack of visible genitive agreement in յեղափոխ / մարտամբոխ is not evidence against these attachments.

The rhetorical effect is clearer than the narrow syntax: two short adjective+noun complexes begin the catastrophe catalogue before the heavier nominalizations accumulate.

E. ''սուրակոխ բազմահեղ արեանց կոտորածոյ'': internal pairing sharpened

CALFA gives useful lexical/collocational evidence even though its quoted Agathangelos surface is textually non-identical:

  • սրակոխ occurs with կոտորածիւ in an independent example (“sword-slaughter/carnage” context).
  • արիւն has the established collocation արիւն հեղուլ “shed blood”.
  • կոտորած = carnage/slaughter/massacre.

This favors the semantic pairing:

սուրակոխ ... կոտորածոյ
          └─ բազմահեղ արեանց

i.e. approximately “sword-wrought slaughter with/of copiously shed blood”, rather than attaching both adjectives indiscriminately to արեանց.

Because both adjectives are preposed and therefore morphology gives weak attachment diagnostics, this remains MEDIUM–HIGH, not a hard syntactic claim.

F. Final revenge phrase: one residual remains genuinely lexical-syntactic

CALFA gives քինախնդիր as “revengeful / vindictive / one seeking vengeance” and, importantly, examples in which it takes a genitival complement:

  • քինախնդիր մահուանն … — avenging / seeking vengeance for a death
  • քինախնդիր անցելոցն մարտից … — seeking vengeance for past battles
  • NBHL paraphrase: խնդրօղ զքէն վրիժու

This makes քինախնդիր վրիժուց a real local possibility, rather than treating քինախնդիր as a free-standing ornamental adjective. However, the whole sequence

վասն քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց

still permits more than one internal bracketing. The evidence does not yet justify choosing a fully explicit modern NP such as “勇武による復讐” versus “復讐を求める勇武” versus “勇武と復讐的報復”. Therefore the previous MEDIUM residual is retained.

What is secure is narrower:

  • second վասն governs a genitive domain;
  • քաջութեան = GEN.SG;
  • վրիժուց = GEN.PL;
  • քինախնդիր belongs semantically to the vengeance/retribution complex;
  • local attachment to the final human-killing event remains preferable to retroactive scope over the entire catalogue.

Deepening result

No new BLOCKING issue emerged. Instead:

  • իրք որ եղեալք number behavior is now directly licensed by ABE1936/JEN1959.
  • GEN objects after քանդելոյ / մատնելոյ / հարկանելոյ are now directly licensed by JEN1959 §493.
  • CALFA same-locus evidence has been downgraded from textual to lexical/collocational evidence because its Agathangelos citation differs from the frozen Phase-2 surface.
  • սուրակոխ … կոտորածոյ / բազմահեղ արեանց is sharpened to MEDIUM–HIGH.
  • the internal syntax of քաջութեան քինախնդիր վրիժուց remains the principal NON-BLOCKING residual.

REVIEW.002 remains RESOLVED after deepening audit.

Precision integration

The two priority reviews and the post-review audit converge on the following analysis.

[Ø 3SG = Տրդատ]
└─ հրամայեաց [FINITE]
   ├─ մեզ
   ├─ ոչ A

Only հրամայեաց is overt finite. B shares the matrix scope by ellipsis; C is the corrective positive content and must not be supplied with an Armenian finite predicate. The catastrophe catalogue is parallel in event reference but morphologically heterogeneous: lexical event nouns coexist with inflected infinitival/nonfinite nominalizations. Agents are suppressed.

De-anchored Recall

A fresh sweep was performed after setting aside the two priority-review formulations.

  • morphology / finiteness: no overlooked finite form was found. վիպասանել, ընթանալ, եղեալք, շփոթելոց, քանդելոյ, մատնելոյ, հարկանելոյ remain nonfinite.
  • relative morphology: apparent իրք … որ … եղեալք number mismatch is licensed by ABE1936.PRO07.C001 and JEN1959.SYN26.C002; no emendation is required.
  • government: HMB §161 directly supports both occurrences of վասն with GEN. JEN1959.NFIN09.C003 directly licenses GEN objects with inflected infinitives.
  • controller / agent: Tiridates is the discourse-resolved implicit subject of հրամայեաց; մեզ is the commanded narrator group. No controller is grammatically recoverable for the nominalized catastrophe events, and none is supplied.
  • attachment: A/B contrast and the outer վասն catalogue are stable. The first catalogue member and the internal bracketing of the final vengeance phrase remain locally compressed but do not alter clause architecture.
  • lexicalization: discourse-use ընթանալ, fictive առասպել, taste-pleasing քմազարդ, and revenge-seeking քինախնդիր are independently supported.
  • evidence control: CALFA's differing Agathangelos citation is retained only as lexical/collocational evidence; it is not allowed to override the Phase-2 frozen surface.

DE-ANCHORED RECALL: PASS.

Residual audit / closure
